Fabrication
ATD has the necessary equipment, talent, and experience to “fit””
and weld exceptionally large (40,000 pounds) and intricate weldment
to very close tolerances. This will reduce the amount of metal to
be removed during subsequent machining operations.
We have produced weldments from carbon steel to the higher alloy
steels, including stainless steel. The weldments can be furnace
heat treated, sand blasted, primed and given a special painting
as the final coat if the customer requires this. In addition, machining
can be performed.
In some cases, we have made patterns and had compatable castings
produced that would become part of the weldment.
Our talented group of engineers can assist your company in the design,
specifications, and detailing of the specific weldments that you
may require. If specified, the welds can be inspected with magnetic
particle, ultrasonic, or dye-pentrant inspection.
Machining
Large, heavy-duty machining can be performed on one of our two 5-inch
spindle boring mills:
1. G & L Floor Mill
X travel, 300 inches or 25 feet
Y travel, 120 inches or 10 feet
Z travel, 48 inches or 4 feet
2. G & L Boring Mill
X travel, 108 inches or 9 feet
Y travel, 72 inches or 6 feet
Z travel, 36 inches or 3 feet
Both mills have rotary tables to augment the machining set ups.
